First points awarded for APRC Final qualification

Four drivers have secured points at Winmax Otago Rally to go towards their Asia Pacific Rally Championship aspirations.

Points are on offer at both the Winmax Otago Rally and International Rally of Whangarei brought to you by Mark Cromie Motor Group with the top three points-scorers from the combined rounds eligible to go to the APRC final in November as well as earning $3,000 to go towards costs courtesy of the Asia Pacific Rally Championship Working Group.

Ex-WRC star Hayden Paddon claimed the maximum 30 points in his Hyundai car while Todd Bawden (24), Brendon Wadsworth (21) and Jeff Ward (19) also secured points in a rally that saw a serious attrition rate.

Reigning national champion Ben Hunt failed to score any points after an engine drama while the likes of Emma Gilmour, Dylan Turner, Jack Hawkeswood, Robbie Stokes, Phil Campbell and Brian Green also failed to secure any points.

Drivers will have the chance to add to their tallies at next month’s International Rally of Whangarei brought to you by Mark Cromie Motor Group on May 14-16.
